It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces parading their ‘dress up’.
We would like to thank our parents and carers who went out of their way to make this event a success. We hope everyone enjoyed it as much as our students.
This term the Year 1 students have been learning about people who help us in the community. Last week the students had the opportunity to meet Frank Primerano, a sweet corn and cattle farmer from a small country town called Whorouly, in North East Victoria. Using a Facetime call, Frank showed the students around his farm. He showed the students how his corn is grown and harvested using a big picking machine. Frank also showed the students his cows and the students got to name a new born calf. They named him Roger! At the end of the Facetime call, the students got to peel and cook fresh, yummy corn from Frank’s farm. In the afternoon the students wrote letters to Frank, thanking him for the corn. Frank has since written back. He was very happy to receive all the wonderful, well written letters.
In Year One, we have been learning about the different people we have in our community and how they can help us. This week, we had a wonderful visit from 5 friendly police officers from the Mill Park Police Station. The students loved learning more about their role in our community and asked lots of interesting questions. Their favourite part was hearing the police car sirens!
