Introducing our Guide Dog Puppy in training ‘Tobias’.
Tobias is a puppy who belongs to Guide Dogs Victoria.
He is currently being puppy raised by Assistant Principal Mel Lloyd for the first year of his life and then he will return to Guide Dogs Victoria to be assessed and hopefully begin his training as a Guide Dog.
We hope that Tobias becomes an important part of a vision impaired person’s life.
During his first year of life, it is important that Tobias learns many things, is socialised with lots of people and has a variety of rich experiences in his life.
This will help him when he is guiding someone out in the big wide world.
The students of Mill Park Heights may see Tobias out and about in the school sometimes.
They have learnt about how to approach him in a calm and kind manner and to ignore him when he is wearing his yellow jacket and ‘working’.
It is a wonderful opportunity for our students to gain knowledge of the work Guide Dogs Victoria do in our community.
We look forward to sharing Tobias’ Guide Dog Journey with you on our website and in our newsletter each fortnight.
You and your family can learn more about Tobias and his life on his Instagram page puppyraising_tobias
